About Neath Little Theatre
A Place for Quality Drama
Neath Little Theatre was established in 1935 (the current building was opened in 1955) and NLT still aims to provide quality drama and learning opportunities to the people of Neath and surrounding areas. Our space is dedicated to showcasing talented performers and engaging with the community through the art of theatre.
ABOUTNEATHLITTLETHEATRE
On 26th September 1935, NLT held its inaugural meeting at Neath’s M.C. Café, wherethepre-existing Neath Amateur Dramatic Society joined with local professionals to establish a LittleTheatre in the town. A month later, on 31st October, our doors t headquarters opened in Water Street. Members aimed to learn about all aspects of stagecraft. Money was short and so, out of necessity, the rst‘Major’production was staged at the Gwyn Hall for three nights in January 1936. Having survived the hardships of the Second World War, members worked tirelessly to raise funds for an improved headquarters. As a result, the current building opened in February 1955 and has been in use ever since. Over the decades, we have presented hundreds of full-length plays and countless one-act presentations and events. Today,we continue our aim to advance the education of the public in all aspects of the dramatic art by providing a wide variety of plays for our local community. Having survived recent enforced closures due to the pandemic and repairs to the building, Neath Little Theatre achieved charitable status in 2024
